Rotary Roses Program
The Rotary Roses Program: Enhancing community service and female leadership
The Rotary Roses programme has as its primary goal to attract more women into Rotary and to also enhance the contribution of women in community service and leadership. The main objective is to engage, elevate and empower the girls/women to improve gender relations with the involvement of men and boys. The programme, which was initiated by the District Governor, Rosetti Nabbumba Nayenga, supports and will move in tandem with the District goals of membership experience and engagement.
Through the Rotary Roses programme, clubs will: -
  • Be encouraged to recruit a minimum of three females this Rotary year,
  • Sponsor mentor and coach youth (girls/boys from 15-35) through existing partnerships like Toastmasters, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards(RYLA), D9211 Rotaract Ladies Initiative-Future Me programme and the Professional Coaches and Association
  • Support/implement a project benefitting the girl child/women.
The Rotary Roses program has a strategy to recruit more females through formation of a fellowship that is open to female Rotarians, Rotaractors, Inner wheelers and non Rotarians as full members, while the males are  welcome to join in as Associate members. The fellowship is intended for women passionate about community service and those seeking personal growth and leadership development in both business and Rotary.
The fellowship shall exchange ideas on how to increase women’s impact in community service, in addition to building capacity for female leaders.
The Rotary Roses programme will also seek to recognize and celebrate female leadership and their achievements at the 96th District Conference and Assembly (DCA) that will be held, from April 21-24th 2021 at Speke Resort Munyonyo. The first Ugandan female Governor, who is also the last Governor for the District 9211 will host the annual DCA. A grand celebration is planned that is open for female non- Rotarians/Rotaractors who would want to specifically attend the Rotary Roses programme at a very special rate of $55/$25. The programme line up for the Rotary Roses Day includes global empowerment female speakers, Rotary International leaders, a showcase of Rotary Roses projects, and recognition of both outstanding female leaders and clubs with highest net addition to female membership, and training and impactful service project that benefit the girl/women in communities.  The programme is now up and running.
