My Family of Rotary: The Rotary Year 2017-2018 ends on June 30, 2017. This is my last monthly message as your District Governor. As I said in my May message, I had an amazing journey as your District Governor. My Rotary wheel has come full circle at the District level. I am now going to be a Past District Governor.

On the Rotary calendar, June is Rotary Fellowships Month. Fellowship is a great theme this month as each leader plans to pass their responsibility to the new leadership. I wish our incoming leaders 2018-2019 the very best. As we plan to start the new year, it is important that we reflect on our Rotary journey during the Rotary year 2017-2018. If you failed to give support, it is now time to reflect on why you joined Rotary. Rotarians are supposed to be fully committed to helping others in addition to having fun, but most important Rotarians should make a difference.

Besides our Motto "Service Above Self" and the "Four Way Test", we need to keep ourselves energized in so many ways. John Wesley said that this is the key to a happy life: “Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as you can.” With that, I turn the District Governor instrument of power to District Governor Elect Sharmila Bhatt and will head back to my Rotary club and embrace my immediate Rotary family and get back to work in my club and my community. I will miss many things as experienced in my Governorship like official club visits, installation ceremonies, Fundraising events, Polio walks, Foundation dinners, Interact Club charters, District Rotaract meetings, new member induction ceremonies, District Conference Committee meetings, conference calls, and most of all the new friends.

As a Past District Governor, I am continuing to serve as an Assistant Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator (ARRFC) for Zone 20A and Director, Environmental Sustainability Rotarian Action Group.

Rotary is alive and well in District 9211. You should be proud to be associated with this District and its diverse geography and culture. I felt great optimism for the future of Rotary in 9211 throughout the year and particularly with our Rotary youth.

Once again thank you for making this a memorable year as we worked together to make a difference. Let us keep on living this every day as we head towards being the inspiration in the Rotary year 2018-2019. Do not forget to have FUN!
