The Rotary Club of Zanzibar, Stone Town, together with its main partner, Fumba Town Development, have yet again brought hope to the community at the small coastal town of Makunduchi, in south eastern Zanzibar.
The club with Fumba town as the main sponsor, organized yet another successful fun-filled golf tournament to raise funds for the club’s charity project, the public Makunduchi hospital which serves the town’s population of over 12,000 people.

In partnership with Health Improvement Project Zanzibar (HIPZ) -  a UK-registered charity, and Zanzibar’s Ministry of health, the club seeks to continue their efforts to rehabilitate and buy much-needed equipment for the hospital.

This annual event, held on 29 September 2018 at the nine-hole golf course at the Sea Cliff resort and spa, is now in its third year.

After a day of golfing, the golfers, friends, families and sponsors were treated to an evening of food and fun dubbed the 19th Hole Dinner & Dance. The tournament winners were feted during the event. Qatar Airways once again offered a return flight to any of their destination to the winning lady and gentleman.

Female Rotarians from Dar es Salaam steal the show
Rotarian Priscilla Karobia from Rotary club of Dar es Salaam Mikocheni was the overall winner for the ladies and in second place was Rotarian MaryAnne Mugo from the Rotary club of Dar es Salaam – Oysterbay.

The Rotary Club of Zanzibar, Stone Town, was founded in 2005. Since then the Club has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of people in Zanzibar, focusing especially on health and education.

Last year’s golf tournament raised $18,000 and out of these $8,000 was used to buy urgent supplies for the hospital and the rest went into a global grant for the hospital. The global grand of $80,000 was approved this year.
